We would like to give a shoutout to the top 10 African startups that took part in last week’s BRAIN bootcamp. Every day was packed with interactive sessions, guided by international industry experts, and made practically applicable to each startup’s current position, challenges and goals.
On Thursday evening, our CEO, Dr Du Preez van Staden, along with representatives from Biocode Technologies, Sanofi, Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and Mediclinic took part in a panel discussion, specifically addressing the challenges of scaling biotech in Africa. Thank you to our co-panelists, as well as to Richard Gordon from South African Medical Research Council, for leading this discussion. This panel discussion was organized by Octoco and Workshack, who provided an impressive venue and fantastic boereworsrol dinner!
The week-long bootcamp culminated with the 10 startups utilizing all they have learned to pitch to potential investors at an open pitching event, held on Saturday. What a week! Thank you so much Open Startup, CERI – Centre for Epidemic Response and Innovation and LaunchLab, it was a pleasure working with you to bring opportunity to South Africa.
