This past Friday, our CEO, Dr. Du Preez van Staden, and Junior Production Scientist, Nsizwa Biyela, had the privilege of engaging with CSSFF-SAMRC interns at an industry networking session. The event brought together representatives from 10 companies, each showcasing their work and impact within the South African bioeconomy—offering valuable insights and inspiration to the next generation of scientists.

Nsizwa shared his own inspiring journey—from being an SAMRC intern to becoming a full-time team member at Fluorobiotech—highlighting the exciting path from student to professional within the biotech industry.

The session created a dynamic platform for one-on-one conversations between interns and potential employers, sparking meaningful dialogue around career paths, growth opportunities, and the evolving biotech landscape.
We are incredibly excited to welcome this year’s interns and believe that initiatives like these are vital for building capacity in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical ecosystem. By fostering talent and creating opportunities for highly skilled graduates, we contribute to the growth of the broader ecosystem—one that supports innovation, local expertise, and long-term development in South Africa.
We’re proud to support initiatives that nurture young scientists and strengthen the future of biotech in our region.
